Creation of a new area with 100 camping pitches!

L’Hippocampe is expanding and creating a new area on the other side of the Durance river, in the commune of Château Arnoux. This extension to l'Hippocampe is being built on the site of the former Château-Arnoux campsite, which closed in 2009. This renovation will allow l'Hippocampe to expand and offer camper more space for pitches and its facilities.

This new area will accommodate 100 camping pitches, with large pitches averaging 130m². It is located at the foot of the hills, close to two fishing ponds and the Durance river. A quiet, idyllic setting. Dense vegetation with tall, beautiful trees providing shade for the pitches.

A nearby reed bed provides shelter for numerous birds. You are in the hart of L'Escale bird sanctuary.

Tents, motor-homes and caravans only! This new area will be dedicated to campers. But whether you are staying in Volonne or Château-Arnoux, the facilities and services on both sides of the river will be accessible to all holidaymakers.

All you have to do is walk for about 8 minutes or cycle for 3 minutes to reach the new area via the footbridge, which was built in 2022.

This brand new area will be inaugurated on Saturday 13 July 2024!

A new showpiece! Creation of a Lagon of 3400m².

This lagoon is located at l'Hippocampe in Château Arnoux. Holidaymakers staying in Volonne can also enjoy a dip in the lagoon.

Entertainment is available on both sides of the campsite. On the Château Arnoux side, for example, you'll find yoga on the white sandy beaches, pétanque and beach volleyball tournaments, evening entertainment with live bands ... (the entertainment schedule is currently being drawn up).

All holidaymakers staying at Château Arnoux will be able to take advantage of the entertainment organised at Volonne and vice versa.

An eco-responsible approach

The renovationaims to be environmentally friendly. The major eco-responsible investments include:

The lagoon: This is a chlorine-free gravity filtration system that consumes 70% less energy than a swimming pool. This technique, combined with UV filters, preserves the quality of the water. The ARS (Agence Régionale de Santé) monitors and validates water quality.
Solar lighting: Most of the area will be lit by solar-powered street lamps.
A selective sorting area: a new selective sorting area to improve waste management.

Accessibility

Thanks to the Himalayan footbridge built in 2022, holidaymakers can move easily from one bank to the other. This footbridge can be used on foot or by bike.

It is about an 8-minute walk or 3-minute bike ride between l’Hippocampe Volonne and l’Hippocampe Château Arnoux.

As far as vehicle access is concerned, this new area, located in the commune of Château Arnoux, has its own reception. There will now be 2 access points for vehicles: L'Hippocampe Volonne and l'Hippocampe Château Arnoux.
